The (Rainy and Cold) North Carolina Arboretum - March 2024

The next day was really rainy and cold. Notwithstanding the weather, we forged ahead with a visit to The North Carolina Arboretum. I think it is a lovely place that I would enjoy visiting when the trees have leaves and it is not freezing. Everybody was cold and wet, and it didn't go well.

For this half of the trip, Jim had booked an absolutely amazing Airbnb in Pisgah National Forest. The windows were the dreamiest. We were obsessed with the house and the area. The nearby little town, Brevard, was adorable. We told the owners we wanted to buy the place, but apparently they weren't interested in selling. Anyway, in light of the rainy weather, we decided to stay in and show the girls a movie - Miracle - that evening. Even though I never played team sports, I'm a sucker for a good sports movie, and I was excited for the girls to see Miracle. I tried to explain to them the context of the Cold War as the movie began, but Tiny early on was like, "I don't have any idea what's going on." She shut down and had no interest and ended up reading through probably the second half.
