USWNT Rain Game, Legoland, Park, & Big Bear w/ Gustafsons - March 2024

Tiny, Ever, and I went to a U.S. Women's National Team game at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego with Kristi and Ella Rondo. We knew rain was expected, so we took ponchos. We did not, however, realize how absolutely frigid it was going to be. We were so wet and so excruciatingly cold. The only reason we survived - barely - was hot chocolate. These pictures make it look fun, but it was really not. There was so much water on the field; I've never seen that sort of splashing during a soccer game. That was the only entertaining thing. Kristi said afterward that the game should have been canceled. It was ridiculous.

Kristi supplied the mini flags. Go, 'Merica.

I had promised the girls I'd take them to Legoland - I think because Ever had had to miss a trip to Legoland with a group or something. I made good on the pledge.

I snapped a pic of the way Tiny and Wrenzy "watch" Ever's (and each other's) soccer games. (Tiny is in the back, in orange and a hat.) There is absolutely no watching. Only reading.

Sleeping kids are cute.

Playing at the park across from Miss Amber's after piano lessons.

We invited the Gustafsons to Big Bear with us. They don't ski or have great cold weather/snow clothes, despite having lived in Philly before this. We got so much snow while we were up there.

They tried to be sports about the cold and agreed to go to the Alpine Zoo. Katie finally had to tell me she was freezing and needed to wrap it up. The snow leopards were super active - because snow - but we didn't get to see a lot of the other animals very well. So I don't know that the excursion was loved, although the kids did enjoy eating giant snowballs.

The kids and Evan had a lot of fun in the hot tub, and I got the best photo out of it.

The kids did do some sledding. And we did a movie night but chose a movie (Jungle Cruise) that everyone in my family except me loves  (I hate it), but it wasn't great for the Gustafsons, and Norah was too scared to watch it, and overall the trip was pretty much a huge bust. I'd say better luck next time, but I'm certain there isn't going to be a next time. At least we got that hot tub pic.
