January 2022 - Walks, a Hike, and Things

On New Year's afternoon, we went down to the golf course, hit balls and climbed trees.

Ever at the top, Tiny in the middle, and Wrenzy at the bottom.

The girls tried to do a pyramid.

Tiny got stung by a bee, and her hand swelled up like crazy.

Wrenzy wrote a long story about fairies.

And she cut her own apple. Capable lady, that one.

Ever practiced her new RipStik at the neighborhood courts.

She also made homemade peanut butter cups.

And she and Tiny made a lemon bundt cake.

I think this was possibly given to us at Christmas and photographed later. Cute Tiny.

Sam brought Tess and Rue down. I took the girls to Hidden Canyon Park, where they discovered that one can sharpen sticks by holding them against the spinny thing while it is spun. It is loud and lots of fun.

Then we went to Batiquitos Lagoon and introduced Tess and Rue to sourgrass.

Ever had asked earlier if they could make lemonade with some lemons I had bought for baking. I said no. Then she and Tess found some free lemons up the street and asked if they could make lemonade. I felt obliged to permit it.

Wrenzy made her school lunch. Fruits and veggies and peanut butter. I'm not sure if crackers or apples were to be added for dipping or if she just ate the peanut butter plain.

What the girls do to a tube of toothpaste is inexplicable. Jim and I get so frustrated. We try to show them how to keep it clean. We clean it (as well as we can) sometimes. But it just goes back to looking like this.

We hiked Mt. Woodson on a cold and rainy day.

We went past the summit down to Potato Chip rock and were pleased that there weren't too many people waiting to take photos. We managed to squeeze in quickly for our photo session.

On the way down, the girls started doing this thing where they'd run from side to side and push off banks or rocks, sort of in honor of parkour. It was fun, and I joined in.

Not a great video, but the only one we have.

The littles and I went on a walk. We saw a fun bird (if I remember correctly), and they crept around a house looking for it.

At the grassy area by Rancho Del Oro, Tiny gathered flowers while Wrenzy drew pictures of dresses.

Since kindergarten, Wrenzy is always writing.

I discovered a crazy mess hiding at the foot of Tiny's bed. Under this piece of material...

...was this:

I had to run to Big Bear between school drop-off and pickup to accept delivery of the new couch and take a picture for the Airbnb listing.

The girls all earned pretty much every award for the first semester. I took a picture of Tiny with each of her awards and then one with all displayed because six photos was going to be too many. For the other girls, we got all the awards into the frame together..
