O'ahu Part 1 - Lanikai Hike

Jim had been talking about taking a springtime (good time for surf) trip to O'ahu.  We decided to make a quick trip in March, as we're trying to live up my maternity leave.  We arrived late Wednesday night and left Monday shortly after noon.  Christian and Shandra were wonderful hosts.  I just wished we had a couple more days.

On Thursday, we hiked up to the Lanikai bunkers.  Everdeen tried on Betsy's hat before we left the house.

She posed for a shenaniquin picture at the base of the hill, and then we were off.

The boys and babies, starting out.

Many photos, shenaniquin and otherwise, were taken on and around the first bunker.

Dean, looking like an old man.  Check out that belly.

The man behind the magic, posing with his shenaniquin.

My finger-toes, which Dean has inherited.

Then we headed up to the second bunker.

Loved Shandie's description of this picture: us, so in love, and Mamo looking very inspired.

Tristan had quite the photo shoot on the second bunker.  His poses were amazing, and Betsy was laughing so hard at him.

Then we headed down, led by Tristan (a serious trooper) and Mamo.  It was steep and slippery, and there were many slides and a few falls.  No major injuries, though.

It was gorgeous up there!

Ho, so cute. I want to hike on Oahu. And I want to get seriously involved with that water, such amazing colors. Loving the babies. Really upset that there were more than 2 Hastings in one place and I wasn't there. Unacceptable.

Love the shenaniquin pictures, and seeing the tip of Jim's head or hands in most of them. When all babies get older, we need to do some more serious hikes!
