Next we stopped at Bonamargy Friary. It featured lots of really old, falling-down headstones and a haunted stairway (though he couldn't independently verify the latter).
"Here lieth the body" headstone from 1799:
Fair Head was next. Gorgeous green.
Sheep on a cliff:
The next stop was Torr Head, where there were lovely views and an old, graffiti-covered, falling-apart building.
We went to lunch in Cushendall. Rob zipped in along the curb to park and scraped the tire pretty bad. The metal was bent, and a strip of rubber ripped off. He seemed silently upset, so we gave him some alone time to inspect. Then we went to an otherwise empty restaurant for a lunch that was quite good and was served by a friendly waitress who used "wee" every second.
Rob called the rental car company from the restaurant, and it was going to be complicated to switch out the car because it was rented it in the Republic of Ireland and we were in the UK. Rob decided to take it to an auto shop in town (thank heavens there was one) and have it checked out. The guy there thought we were okay to keep driving on it, so that was a big relief.
We enjoyed the mini open-air laundromat at the gas station. Hard to imagine washing clothes here:
The last stop of the day was at Glenariff Forest Park, which was beautiful and chock full of waterfalls. First glimpse of a little waterfall on the far hill as we headed in:
It was so very cold. Anna let me borrow her beanie and coat, so I was like Joey in the Friends episode when he puts on all of Chandler's clothes - stretchy pants under my jeans, two light sweaters (plus under layers), my fleece, Anna's coat, and possibly more. Tiny head, big marshmallow body:
The drive back to the Airbnb was lovely. We saw dolphins and sheep.
Lucy met up with us for dinner by our Airbnb at a fun place called Made in Belfast.
