Who's on First?

On the night of Tuesday, June 9, at 9:29 P.M., I received the following text from Karen Wilson (aka Nanny): "I would love to have Ever on Wed if I can." I responded, "You mean tomorrow or next week?"

The next morning (Wednesday, June 10), I received the following response at 6:58 A.M.: "I mean this Wednesday." Bewildered, I asked Jim for advice on how to proceed from there. The remainder of the exchange went like this:

Me: "Today is Wednesday. Sorry I'm confused!"
Karen: "Hee hee. Don't worry about it. Obviously I get confused a lot."
Me: "So to clarify - you want her today? She would love it."
Karen: "Yes. Today please."

The following week, on Tuesday, June 16 at 5:24 P.M., I got this text: "Ever on Wednesday?" . . .

It was like Karen was playing Taboo, and the words she couldn't say were "today" and "tomorrow." Turns out I'm pretty lost without them. Our inability to communicate is really something.

Every time I say something about "tomorrow," Ever clarifies, "The next day?" Maybe she got her "tomorrow" aversion from Nanny.

Ha! It really is something. I love Ever's "The next day?"
