4th of July Parade

On the Saturday before the 4th of July, we went to a parade down by the Oceanside pier.  There weren't really any floats.  For the most part, it was politicians, teenaged beauty queens, and veterans driving by in cars and trucks, along with vehicles whose sole purpose was to advertise.  There were, however, a couple of marching bands, as well as some dancing people, baton twirlers, and flag wavers.  It was fun, and I was really glad we went.

Dolly and I waited for some action:

El Camino marching band and color guard:

Weird advertising by an oil company:

Dolly waved a little flag some man gave her as he walked by:

Horses:

A band on a flatbed, which was apparently advertising some bar (the blue-haired lady is the singer):

I cried about the veterans and America:

Another marching band:

More advertising-by-band, this time for the BBQ place that is the yellow building behind the "float":

The VW group (why do they have that?):

Flag people:

The highlight was these funny old men zipping around doing circles on these funny little cars:

Some clowns also made an appearance.  Jim was bitter at this workout-clothes lady who stood in the street and ruined all our pictures:
