Hiking in Parc national des Escrins - France, April 2024

This was a gorgeous day of hiking in Ecrins National Park - first to Lac du Lauvitel and then Refuge du Carrelet.

The villagey places we went through were super ghost-towny. April is off-peak (too much snow still), so everything was weirdly deserted.

Our favorite animal-head water fountain.

Something died.

I took way too many pictures of the beautiful lake. And I'm ashamed to say that despite my motto ("Swim in every body of water"), I did not get in.

Coco (because she was driving) was a little freaked out by the narrow, winding, cliff-side roads.

We spied wildlife!

Some sort of zipline was set up for river crossings.

Here, we turned around because it was getting late. Also, lots of snow. It's hard to go to a glorious place and not see everything!

I pride myself on using my Kleenexes (or in this case, toilet paper) as long as possible. I really nailed this one.

More wildlife. (Look closely.)

We stopped on a bridge to check out a little waterfall. Obnoxious tourists.

France is absolutely gorgeous, and I told Jim he needs to learn French so we can go (or live?) there. (I have no hope of ever learning French. Just learning Spanish would be a miracle. So I shall have to rely on Jim.)
