November 2020 - reading, schooling, piano playing, hiking, Thanksgiving, etc.

Here's what I have for November 2020:

Family game night.

Home school.

Tiny being Baby Eleanor, before she got embarrassed about being Baby Eleanor and told us to stop calling her that in front of other people.

Within a couple months of starting kindergarten, Wrenzy was voraciously reading chapter books to herself. It was crazy. I imagine she was inspired by the way Ever would walk around the house with her nose in a book, so she started doing the same.

Bearby, walking down the hall, reading:

I questioned whether she could really be understanding what she was reading. I quickly learned that if I asked her what a book was about, she would give me a 15-minute summary. (This continues to the present day.) Apparently her reading comprehension was A-OK.

Tiny also enjoyed some leisure time with books, despite not actually reading yet.

There was a rare rainstorm, so we took the umbrellas out.

Jim did some very ambitious Sunday baking. He got this recipe out of one of his magazines. The concoction looked very impressive but, sadly, ended up being underwhelming.

Ever played in a Zoom recital.

Miss Paula decided all of a sudden to sell her house and move away, ending the Little Bugs Preschool era. The girls wrote letters to her for a goodbye book.

Miss Paula held her traditional Thanksgiving program/lunch and said her goodbyes.

We sure did love Little Bugs (and its price tag). But Meagan Bunnell decided to take up where Miss Paula left off, which meant that after the holidays, I only had to drive Tiny across our neighborhood to preschool. It was pretty much the best thing that ever happened to me, especially because I was homeschooling, so I could leave the other kids at home more easily while I did preschool runs.

This was Tiny's preschool picture. I took a picture of the picture so I could feel OK about throwing the original away even though it was cute.

Wrenzy cooled off by wearing her long-sleeved shirt in an unintended way.

We went on a little hike with the Paul-and-Susans one Saturday. I forget the name of this place. It's in Vista, I think, and we've been there a couple times.

Amelie and Wrenzy walked and talked.

Monkeys.

Tiny needed a little help coming down.

Tiny ran ahead, as always. She's barely visible in the vegetation:

Rebecca and I shared food again for Thanksgiving. I'm not sure why Jim's dad isn't here because I thought we had him over. I made sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, rolls, a whipped cream/fruit concoction (requested by Ever), and dessert, I think.

The rest of this month's pics are ones Susan sent me from her time homeschooling the kids.

She took them to Batiquitos Lagoon one day.

There were baking projects.

And there was some nail painting.
