Paris - France, April 2024

Last up was Paris. We arrived in the afternoon and found our Airbnb, which was near this structure.

Lucy showed us her school, and we went to dinner. On the way, we passed a big protest, which Lucy then photographed from the restaurant.

We got to the Eiffel Tower just in time to take a selfie and watch it light up.

Then we took photos of it from all angles, including from across the river.

There was a bizarre photo shoot going on with the Eiffel Tower in the background. People are so weird. Also, I'm not sure how the posing lady handled the cold.

We went by the tunnel where Princess Diana was killed.

We tried to watch the movie French Kiss that night but couldn't get it. Coco talked to her family, and her kids were missing her and crying and stuff. My family did not need to talk to me, so that was a little sad.

The next morning, we breakfasted at a cute little cafe with a jungle wall.

We went to Sacre Cour, which was cool but SO crowded. There was a crazy long line to get in (although a troubadour provided a little entertainment), and then we didn't spend much time inside on account of crowds.

Lucy pointed out this adorable building in Montmartre. Apparently it was featured in the TV show Emily in Paris, although I don't really remember it.

We passed the Moulin Rouge.

We took a spin around the beautiful and amazingly old Montmartre Cemetery.

We got some pastries and took them to some gardens to enjoy.

Arc de Triomphe. It doesn't look big enough to have all the room inside it that it does.

This is inside the top.

Fab view.

Tomb of the Unknown Solider under the Arc, where an unknown World War I soldier is buried, and honoring all who have died for France.

The grounds near the Louvre are glorious.

No time for the actual museum.  Crazy that six months later, there'd be a daytime heist of $102M jewels.

Lucy was pointing out cool things, like, "That's where Marie Antoinette was held before she was executed," but I can't remember what all the things are.

Notre Dame was still under construction after the terrible fire.

Lots of Olympics prep was going on. (Paris was hosting the summer Olympics.)

This is the inside-out Centre Pompidou complex, where plumbing, electrical systems, and escalators are on the outside.
